I joined with the intentions of defending my country, overcoming the mental obstacles, and the benefits of on the job training and experience it provides. I recently left MEPs and I'm very excited to find out that I will be a Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic. I do not know much about being a Mechanic of any sort, so this field of work is completely new to me. What are some of the Job opportunities that could be available for me when I get out of the military? (considering I don't completely fall in love with the military and retire from it haha) I would like to potentially go to school in the field while enlisted and beef up my resume to get a high paying job. Is there any specific jobs as a civilian that would be a great route to take to use my experience in this field to my advantage? Any Help or advice is appreciated. Go Army! car insurance. Subaru . How to Sand and Prime Your Car YourselfPainting your car yourself can save you a bundle of money. However painting a car is a little more complicated than painting a wall or chair, but the most important part of the painting process still holds true. Prep work, sanding and priming can separate a good paint job from a bad one. Here is a little advice on how to prep and prime your car right. Difficulty:Moderately Challenging Instructions Things You'll Need Electric Sander(random orbit/palm) Sand Paper (100 grit) Painters Tape Newspaper Soap Water Brush Auto Body primer(spray cans) Step by Step : 1 Wash your car. Even though you are going to be sanding and making a mess, you don't want to rub dirt into your car when your sanding. Large particles can cause permanent damage to the metal. 2 Sand off as much of the old paint as possible. Make sure to remove any gloss and pieces of peeling paint. If all the gloss isn't removed the primer will eventually peel off. 3 Wash all of the paint dust from your car. Make sure you dry any exposed metal, being unprotected it will rust very quickly. 4 When the car is completely dry, tape off any part of you car you do not want to get paint on. Cover the windows and other large areas with newspapers attached by tape on the edges. 5 Spray the car evenly with the primer. Hold the can about a foot and a half away from your car to get a even coat and avoid drips. Be sure to cover ever inch of the car so you don't have to go back. 6 Remove and dispose of all tape and newspaper. Do not try to touch up the primer after it has dried. Doing this will turn the primer a different color and stick out if you do not plan on painting it immediately. Tips & Warnings Make sure when you paint you are outside or in a well ventilated area. Paint fumes can be deadly.
Subaru . Tips for Autobody PaintingAutobody painting is something best left to the professionals if you want a beautiful, one-of-a-kind, flawless custom paint job. If you want a decent paint job that may have a few imperfections, you can paint your car yourself after picking up the following few tips on how to make almost any paint job look good. Preparing for Paint Always start with the smoothest surface possible, as dents and dings will show up through new paint. The darker the paint, the more the dents will stand out. Start by sanding the top layers of old paint off of the car. Sand the entire car using 120-grit sandpaper and a dual action sander, long block sander or your hand. Spray the car with a thick coat of dark-colored primer. Wait at least an hour for the primer to dry. Use a long sanding block with 120-grit sandpaper to sand the car completely. Work the sanding block slowly and evenly, keeping the block flat against the car's surface. This sands the top of the primer, turning the primer a lighter color. Dents, dings and low spots will remain dark and noticeable so you can repair them with body filler. Repair any low areas and repeat the primer and sanding steps. Do this until the car is completely smooth. Spraying the Paint Before spraying paint onto the car, wipe it down with wax and grease remover several times. This gets rid of any oil from fingerprints or other materials. Minutes before spraying the paint, wipe the car's surface with a tack rag. This removes all dust particles and keeps them out of the paint. Most vehicles need three to six thin coats of paint. Begin spraying at the top and work down to the sides of the car. Spray one panel at a time using thin coats so the paint doesn't run. Slightly overlap each stroke. Allow each coat 30 minutes to dry between each coat. Once the paint has dried, spray three to five layers of clearcoat on the car, using the same steps and patterns as with the paint. Allow a full 24 hours for the car to dry completely after spraying the clearcoat paint. Smoothing the Paint Almost any paint job you spray yourself will have imperfections such as orange peel, runs or bumps in the clearcoat. The best way to get rid of these things is so wet-sand the entire car. Sand the car by hand using 800-grit sandpaper and keeping the paper wet while sanding. Sand the very top layer of clearcoat until the entire car is dull and cloudy looking. Polish the car with a dual action orbital polisher and liquid rubbing compound. Use small circular motions, along with back and forth motions, to keep from getting swirls in the paint. This method produces a very glossy finish. *however, have self-adjusting mechanisms that should keep the drum brakes properly adjusted. If any of the self-adjuster components on drum brakes stick or break, the drum brakes won't adjust as they wear out, resulting in a low pedal. 4. As you drive around, notice how your total brake system performs. Ask yourself these questions: Does the vehicle travel too far before coming to a stop in city traffic? If it does, your brakes need adjusting or you need new brake linings. 813

On older vehicles with front drum brakes, a wheel cylinder may be either leaking or stuck. I explain how to check disc and drum brakes in the section called "Getting at Your Brakes" later in this chapter. Does your brake pedal pulsate up and down when you stop? Does your steering wheel shake when you brake? If so, and you have disc brakes, your front brake rotors need to be machined or replaced. A pulsating brake pedal is usually caused by excessive lateral run-out (mechanic-speak for wobbling from side to side), which can happen because your brakes are overheating from overuse. Make sure that your rear brakes are working. If not, they could be causing your front brakes to work too hard and overheat. Subaru . Why does your 5.3 engine knock?
Timeing, under octained gas, Or it could just be american. Dodge Ramcharger. * Do your brakes squeal when you stop fairly short? The squealing is a high-pitched noise usually caused by vibration. Squealing can occur when the brake linings are worn and need replacement, the drum or rotor needs to be machined, the front disc brake pads are loose or missing their anti-rattle clips, the hardware that attaches the brake calipers is worn, or inferior brake linings are in use. Totally eliminating a squeal can be difficult. When you open your brakes to check them, make sure that your rotors or drums aren't badly scored or worn and that plenty of lining material is left. Also, .Chapter 18: Being a Buddy to Your Brakes and Bearings the brake pads on disc type brakes should fit properly into the caliper. xy k Some disc brake pads require special shims to eliminate squeal. If "^ you visit your local parts store, you'll probably see a product called Disc Brake Quiet. This sticky spray hardens to a rubber-like material. If you use it, make sure to spray it on the back of the brake pads the metal part that rests against the caliper. Never Subaru . Do automobiles have fuses for the heaters?

If so, stop driving immediately and have your vehicle towed home or to a repair shop. Further driving could damage the brake rotors or drums.
